Steam Distribution & Metering 1-day Tutorial

February 23, 2010

Four Points Sheraton

Bakersfield, CA

$495 per Student

This one-day professional short course offered covers the basic concepts of steam generation, two-phase steam properties, and flow of steam through surface lines, pipe tees and control valves. It also includes a comprehensive, up-to-date review of steam flow splitting, rate control and metering devices used in the petroleum industry. Guidelines are presented for selecting the appropriate methods and devices for improving steam distribution and designing a cost effective monitoring program.

This course is designed for facility, reservoir, and production engineers currently responsible for the design, implementation and management of steamflood or cyclic steam stimulation projects.  However, the contents of this course are also beneficial for field supervisors responsible for steam plant operation and other technical personnel involved in the monitoring and evaluation of steamflood or cyclic steam stimulation projects.

Production Gauging Principals & Methods 1-day Tutorial

February 24, 2010

Four Points Sheraton

Bakersfield, CA

$495 per Student

This one-day professional short course covers basic well gauging principles and methods used to monitor heavy oil production from steamflood or cyclic steam projects.  A comprehensive review of AWT fundamentals, including phase separation efficiency, water cut measurement, flow rate measurement, and assessment of gauging accuracy is presented along with guidelines for establishing the appropriate gauging frequency and duration for improved monitoring of steamflood and cyclic steam producers.

This course is designed for facility, production and reservoir engineers currently responsible for the design, implementation, operation and management of steamflood or cyclic steam projects.  However, the contents of this course will also benefit other technical personnel involved in the operation and management of steamflood or cyclic steam producers.

Subsurface Heat Management 3-day Workshop - Software Included!

March 9-11, 2010

Bakersfield, CA

$1,695 per Student

This three-day workshop provides a comprehensive review of steamflooding and cyclic steam processes, well completions and subsurface equipment, and reservoir heat management principles.  This course also includes hands-on training in the use of ISG's ResHeat software to analyze data and evaluate subsurface heat management efficiency.  Emphasis is given to practical methods and techniques that have been proven to be effective in improving the economic performance of actual steamflood and cyclic steam stimulation projects.

This course is intended for petroleum engineers, geologists, technical assistants and project team members that would like practical experience diagnosing and optimizing the performance of steamflood and cyclic steam projects.

Steam Distribution & Metering 3-day Workshop - Software Included!

April 12-14, 2010

Bakersfield, CA

$1,695 per Student

This three-day workshop was developed for engineers, technical assistants, field operators and project team members that would like practical experience diagnosing and optimizing the performance of steam distribution systems.  This course provides detailed guidelines for developing a surface steam monitoring program and hands-on training in the use of our SteamTools software to analyze data and optimize steam distribution performance.

Upon completion of this course, participants will know how to: 1) develop a steam measurement program to diagnose system performance, 2) analyze measurement uncertainty and determine its impact on system evaluation and decision making, and 3) clearly identify root causes of poor system performance, evaluate possible corrective methods and determine the most cost-effective solutions. This course is designed to solve problems relevant to the workplace, so participants are encouraged to bring actual field problems to analyze in class.

Instructor

Ms. Suzanne Castrup has over twenty-eight years of experience in thermally enhanced oil recovery and is currently Vice President of Integrated Sciences Group.  Prior to joining Integrated Sciences Group, Ms. Castrup was Technical Advisor for Thermally Enhanced Oil Recovery in Chevron’s Western Basins Group providing expert consultation on all aspects of steamflood and cyclic steam project design, implementation and evaluation.  She was also a Production/Reservoir Engineer, managing both cyclic steam stimulation and steamflood projects in several heavy oil properties in the Cymric and Midway Sunset Fields.

An expert in heat management, Ms. Castrup spent eleven years as a Research Engineer at Chevron Oil Field Research Company conducting laboratory and field experiments to better understand surface and subsurface heat management processes.  She has published numerous technical papers and holds several patents relating to heavy oil recovery.  She is a recipient of the 2006 SPE Western Region Award and the 2007 SPE International Award for distinguished contributions to petroleum engineering projects, facilities and construction.  Click Here for a list of professional accomplishments.
